Book Review: The Giver

imageThe Giver by Louis Lowry is about a boy named Jonas. He lives in a town where everyone is brainwashed by the owners of the civilization.

All of the twelves get a job in the December ceremony and Jonas got the job of a Memory Keeper. No one had ever heard of that job, though, so Jonas was confused.

Apparently, there is one person alive that knows all of the community’s secrets and history called a Memory Keeper. Once they are almost dead, they pass it all onto the next Memory Keeper.

Jonas learned all the community’s secrets and found that this place had done horrible things and wondered if he really wanted to be here.

This book was amazing! It even earned a John Newberry Award, so if you don’t trust me, trust it’s award.
