Once I Was

Once I Was

Once I was a flower

With both grace and beauty

I displayed such delicacy

That all wanted to be like me

Once I was a tree

A weeping willow, to be exact

I would sway in the wind like I was waving goodbye

I liked when the children would play in my shade

Once I was a pine cone

I would fall and hit my head

It was a pleasure to be with my friends

Lets say it has pros and cons

Once I was a river

I just kept moving on

I didn’t stay in just one place

No, I was always in a jiffy

Once I was the earth

I was like a doormat to all

Some say I was a ‘push-over’

But I stopped people from a fall

Really, all these things were great

But the best of them all

Was helping people however I could

That was the best of them all
